Marker for animal or human soft tissue comprises a pre- settable material that will take up a preset shape if bent out of shape. The marker (10) is made of at least two thin twisted wires, e.g. nickel-titanium wires, or of a single wire that has a second wire wound around it. The invention also relates to a corresponding device for insertion of the marker that comprises an elongated canula pipe with a pointed end in which the marker is inserted prior to being pushed out at the marker point.
