The active protection device has an all-through explosive layer (2) on which numerous projectile and/or fragment forming inserts (5) are laid, mostly at a variety of angles to the surface normal (11) of the carrier plate (1), so that after the ignition of the explosive layer, the projectiles and/or fragments act on the main hollow charge before it explodes.
