The invention relates to an inorganic material with hierarchical structure and a process for its ground - gel préparation.le material is a monolith consisting of an inorganic matrix. The matrix is constituted by a polymer of a metal oxide, and it has macropores, mesopores and of the micropores, the said pores being interconnected. The method of preparation consists in preparing an emulsion by introducing an oily phase in an aqueous solution of surfactant, by adding an aqueous solution of metal alkoxide precursor to the solution of surfactant, before or after the preparation of the emulsion, to allow the reaction mixture, at rest, as far as the condensation of the precursor, and to dry the mixture.
