The subject of the invention is a method for identifying regulatory Tr1 lymphocytes in a biological sample based on the determination of the simultaneous presence of the group of molecules CD4, CD18 and / or CD11a, CD49b and, where appropriate, by the implementation of evidence of overexpression of the genes encoding the CD4, PSGL-1, PECAM-1 and alphaV / beta3 molecules. The subject of the invention is also a method of quantification and a method for prognosis or diagnosis of autoimmune or inflammatory diseases based on said identification method. The subject of the invention is also a process for enriching regulatory Tr1 lymphocytes based on the determination of the simultaneous presence of these molecules. The invention finally relates to the use of a composition enriched by said enrichment process for the treatment of an autoimmune or inflammatory disease, including Crohn's disease.
