The method involves determining a stop position of a steering wheel (5), and tightening or loosening a brake (20) depending on the position of the steering wheel with respect to the stop position. The stop position is determined using a predefined formula that depends on position of the steering wheel at that time, maximum locking angle of wheels (15) and locking angle of the wheels (15) at that time.
