The system has an intake pipe (2) opening into a valve chamber (4). The chamber comprises a gas outlet port (6) for passing gas towards a combustion chamber. A valve bore (12) is formed in a base surface (7) of the valve chamber and receives a control valve for opening/closing the outlet port (6). The surface is machined to form a sharp edge (15), at an intersection between the surface and an upper portion (8) of a pipe surface. An independent claim is also included for a manufacturing process of a cylinder head of a gas intake system.
