The armchair has a vertical column fixed perpendicular to a base (4) and having a horizontal axle (1), at its top, for receiving a primary arc (5). A secondary arc (6) is housed at ends (2a, 2b) of the primary arc and receives a head rest (7), a back rest (8), a seat (10), and a foot rest (9) to receive a patient. A retainer permits the patient to remain in the armchair and a braking system ensures abrupt deceleration of the armchair.
