Producing semiconductor material comprises functionalizing a porous oxide ceramic substrate with a compound (I) having a group that can be chemically grafted onto the substrate and a group that can be polymerized with a precursor of an electrically conductive polymer, impregnating the substrate with a solution containing the precursor, and polymerizing the precursor. Independent claims are also included for: (a) p-n semiconductor material produced as above; (b) photovoltaic cell comprising the semiconductor material between a working electrode and a counter electrode.
