The device has a control pedal (1) displaced, by a foot of a driver, between a clutching position against a return force exerted by a clutch mechanism and a declutching position. An electric motor (4) cooperates with the pedal to assist pedal displacement, and reduces the return force of the clutch mechanism. The motor is coupled with a speed reducer whose output shaft is connected to an axle (2) of the pedal.
