The device has an electronic control unit (24) including a control unit (64) to control a pump (3) and a set of regulating valves (9-11, 13-15) for adapting rate and temperature of coolant passing through a fuel cell system (1). The temperature is adapted based on measurements transmitted by temperature sensors (4, 5) to the unit (24) for maintaining temperature in the system around 80 to 90 degree Celsius, in a nominal operation. The temperature of other units e.g. pre-anodic condenser, anodic condenser (20), cathodic condenser (21) and electronic components are maintained lower than critical temperature. An independent claim is also included for a method of regulating temperature of a fuel cell system embedded onboard of a motor vehicle.
