PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide nonaqueous electrolyte solution of high safety and a new evaluation method of safety of nonaqueous electrolyte solution. PSOLUTION: The nonaqueous electrolyte solution has (A) a maximum heat generation rate of 550 kW/mSP2/SPor less as measured by a cone calorimeter and/or (B) a gross calorific value of 10 MJ/mSP2/SPor less as measured by cone calorimeter, and the safety evaluation method of the nonaqueous electrolyte solution measures a maximum heat generation rate and/or a gross calorific value of the nonaqueous electrolyte solution with the use of the cone calorimeter.
