PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To constantly control a pressure reducing speed regardless of the presence of pulse waves. PSOLUTION: The subject method for controlling the pressure comprises a first step to pressurize a cuff to the maximum pressurization value, a second step to feedback-control an electric exhaust valve so that the actual pressure reducing speed approaches a target pressure reducing speed after the pressurization to the maximum pressurization value till the cuff pressure is reduced to a prescribed value, and a third step to find a quantity of pressure variation per minimum resolution when the electric exhaust valve is controlled based on the interrelation between the quantity of variation of control signals for the electric exhaust valve when the second step is executed and the corresponding quantity of variation of the cuff pressure and to control the electric exhaust valve by giving control signals equivalent to the minimum resolution to the electric exhaust valve whenever the cuff pressure varies by the quantity of pressure variation per minimum resolution in the stage when the cuff pressure reaches the prescribed value.
