PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ionic group-bearing polymer and a polyelectrolyte material each excellent in proton conductivity, fuel-blocking tendency, resistance to fuel-related swelling and solubility to a film-forming solvent. PSOLUTION: The polymer has a structure derived from at least two bisphenols selected from those mentioned below, i.e. (A1), (A2) and (A3), and bears ionic groups such as sulfo or sulfonimido groups. The (A1) is a bisphenol having a linkage group of fluorene structure, the (A2) is a bisphenol having a linkage group of diphenylmethane structure and the (A3) is a bisphenol having a linkage group of phenolphthalein structure.
