METHOD OF DIAGNOSING DETERIORATION OF LIGHTNING ARRESTER

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine deterioration with an elapsed time by simple and low cost, on a lightning arrester having a property which an ohmic leakage current or all leakage current attenuates with an applied voltage period without stopping the function of the lightning arrester. PSOLUTION: A method of diagnosing deterioration of the arrester is carried out on the lightning arrester having the property which the leakage current is attenuated with the elapsed time, and the lightning arrester is mainly constituted with a current limiting element made of zinc oxide as a main component. The deterioration state is determined based on a changing ratio of the leakage current proportional to a degree of the deterioration and also proportional to the applied voltage period.
