PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a mechanism of an optical system by simplifying control for driving the optical system of a digital camera.;SOLUTION: The digital camera comprises: an imaging sensor 5 for photographing an image of an object; an optical system for forming the image of the object in the imaging sensor 5; an optical zoom mechanism of an actuator 20 or the like for driving the optical system so as to make a magnification for forming the image in the imaging sensor 5 into a predetermined magnification; a CPU 31 for controlling the actuator 20; and a digital zoom processing means which applies zoom processing to image data stored in a memory 32 for images of the object obtained by the imaging sensor 5 for obtaining an image of the predetermined magnification. The CPU 31 controls the actuator 20 so as to discretely change the magnification based on the optical system from one magnification to another magnification.
