PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent element, the organic luminescent layer of which is formed by the wet type film-manufacturing method and which is good in the charge injection characteristics from an electrode to an organic luminescent layer, and which is excellent in the light emission efficiency and in the driving life.;SOLUTION: The composition for forming the organic luminescent layer of an organic electroluminescent element by the wet type film-manufacturing method contains a phosphorescence emitting material, a charge transport material and a solvent, with the above phosphorescence emitting material and charge transport material being each an unpolymerized organic compound, and the composition has such a relationship among the first oxidation potential ED+ of the phosphorescence emitting material, the first reduction potential ED- of the phosphorescence emitting material, the first oxidation potential ET+ of the charge transport material and the first reduction potential ET- of the charge transport material as is expressed by the formula ET-+0.1ED-ET+ED+-0.1 or ED-+0.1ET-ED+ET+-0.1.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
