PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent element which has an organic luminescent layer formed by a wet type film-forming method and has good charge injection characteristics from an electrode to the organic luminescent layer, and which is excellent in the light emission efficiency and in the driving life.;SOLUTION: The composition for forming the organic luminescent layer of the organic electroluminescent element by the wet type film-forming method contains a phosphorescence emitting material, a charge transport material and a solvent, wherein each of the phosphorescent material and the charge transport material is an unpolymerizable organic compound, and wherein a relationship among the first oxidation potential ED+ of the phosphorescence emitting material, the first reduction potential ED- of the phosphorescence emitting material, the first oxidation potential ET+ of the charge transport material and the first reduction potential ET- of the charge transport material is expressed by formula ET-+0.1ED-ET+ED+-0.1 or ED-+0.1ET-ED+ET+-0.1.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
