PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shift lever device of an automatic shift in an automobile which can appropriately detect the position of "D, S, S+, S-" by reducing the number of switches to two, and has a smaller mounting space for the switches.;SOLUTION: A switch operation member 40 operating two switches SW1 and SW2 are connected to a shift lever 20, and the switch operation member operates two switches as follows. When the shift lever is at an automatic shift position (D), the two switches SW1 and SW2 are made to be in a nonoperating state. When the shift lever is at a shift ratio maintaining position (S), the two switches SW1 and SW2 are made to be in an operating state. When the shift lever is at a shift up position (S+), the up side switch SW1 is made to be in the operating state, and the down side switch SW2 is made to be in the nonoperating state. When the shift lever is at the shift down position (S-), the up side switch SW1 is made to be in the nonoperating state, and the down side switch SW2 is made to be in the operating state.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
