COLOR DISPLAY DEVICE MAKING USE OF ONE PANEL DIFFRACTION TYPE OPTICAL MODULATOR

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color display device making use of one panel diffraction type optical modulator in which diffracted light is formed for incident light having a plurality of wavelengths by making use of one optical modulation element. PSOLUTION: The color display includes: a plurality of light sources which simultaneously emit light having applicable wavelengths; an illumination lens system which turns the light emitted from the plurality of the light sources into linear parallel light and makes the light be incident simultaneously; a diffraction type light deflector including a substrate, a plurality of reflection parts supported by the substrate, and a driving means which varies the intermediate part of the plurality of the reflection parts with respect to the substrate; a filter system which passes the diffracted light having a required order when the light having a plurality of diffraction orders for the respective wavelengths is made to be incident from the diffraction type optical modulator; and a projection system which generates a video on an object by scanning the object with the diffracted light filtered by the filter system.
