PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ABSB5/SBtype hydrogen storage alloy powder not classified as a hazardous material by the fire law, realizing excellent low temperature battery characteristics. PSOLUTION: The ABSB5/SBtype hydrogen storage alloy powder of which the content of powder passing through a sieve with sieve opening of 150m is not less than 50 wt.%, is adjusted so that the content of Ce in the alloy is 25 wt.% or less, content of oxygen is 0.04 to 0.12 wt.%, specific surface area in volume-base particle size distribution is 0.16 to 0.27 mSP2/SP/cc, volume-base average particle diameter at volume-base particle size distribution is 41.0m to 69.0m, and standard deviation (SD) at volume-base particle size distribution is 24.0m to 42.0. By the above, the alloy powder is turned into a material not ignited within 10 second at a small gas flame ignition test and can realize an excellent low-temperature battery characteristics.
