AB5 type hydrogen storage alloy with excellent life characteristics

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ABSB5/SBtype hydrogen storage alloy excellent in a lifetime property. PSOLUTION: An ABSB5/SBtype hydrogen storage alloy having a CaCuSB5/SBtype crystal structure, with discharge capacity of not less than 305 mAh/g, and a full length at half maximum of a (002) plane obtained from X-ray diffraction of less than 0.20, is proposed. In the event that the discharge capacity is not less than 305 mAh/g, a tendency of a lifetime property (pulverization residual ratio) drastically changes at a boundary around 0.20 of the full length at half maximum of the (002) plane obtained from the x-ray diffraction, and the lifetime property becomes dominantly excellent if the full length at half maximum is less than around 0.20.
