PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an agent for improving bacterial flora in an oral cavity, forming a preferable bacterial flora in the oral cavity, and a food or beverage for improving the bacterial flora in the oral cavity. PSOLUTION: The agent for improving the bacterial flora in the oral cavity, consisting of a ganglioside as an active ingredient and the food or beverage for improving the bacterial flora in the oral cavity, blended with the ganglioside exhibit each an antibacterial activity against harmful bacteria not desirable in the view point of caries or periodontal diseases in the oral cavity and exhibit a proliferation-accelerating effects on useful bacteria to be remained in the oral cavity. Also, by using the ganglioside as the active ingredient, they are effective as the antibacterial agent, antibacterial food, beverage or feed, or growth-accelerating agent or growth-accelerating food, beverage or feed.
