PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of effectively absorbing an impact force of falling rock, and to provide a falling rock protective structure.;SOLUTION: The falling rock protective structure 1 provided with a protective body 2 having a protective surface 15 erected so as to be opposed to a mountain side, is comprised of a rock bouncing surface 3 which is arranged on the mountain side of the protective surface 15, at a location close to the protective surface 15. The rock bouncing surface 3 has a cushioning material 22 arranged therein, for absorbing an impact of a falling rock R such that the rock R collides with the cushioning material 22, bounces, and then collides with the protective body 2. Before absorption of the impact force of the falling rock R by the protective body 2, the cushioning material 22 arranged in the front-side rock bouncing surface 3 functions to absorb part of the impact force beforehand, and therefore even if the rock R has a relatively large size, the protective body 2 can efficiently absorb the impact force of the rock R without excessively increasing the strength thereof.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
