TOOTHPASTE CONTAINING SHIRASU AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively utilize shirasu which is a kind of volcanic ejecta abundantly depositing in the South Kyushu such as Kagoshima prefecture and Miyazaki prefecture and to use the shirasu as an abrasive for toothpaste.;SOLUTION: The toothpaste contains shirasu deposited by a volcanic activity and granulated to particle diameter of about 50-500μm. The method for producing the toothpaste containing granular shirasu comprises (1) a step to wash shirasu with water to remove unnecessary floating materials, (2) a step to sterilize the cleaned shirasu with hot water, (3) a step to dry and pulverize the shirasu to ultrafine particles, (4) a step to sieve the shirasu powder to obtain uniform-sized powder having particle diameter of about 50-500μm and (5) a step to knead and mix the granular shirasu with a softening agent.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
