PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an Mg-base composite material having high mechanical properties, such as strength and hardness, and high corrosion resistance.;SOLUTION: In the Mg-base composite material, the amount of Mg2Si is 3 to 15 pts.wt. and the particle size of Mg2Si ranges from 10 nm to 30 μm, and further, the tensile strength of the Mg-base composite material is 100 to 500 MPa. A green compact for producing the composite material can be produced through the following steps: (a) a step of blending a first sample containing Mg with a second sample containing Si in a prescribed ratio to prepare a powder mixture; and (b) a plastic working step where, after filling the powder mixture into a container, the application of pressing to the powder mixture using a pressing punch to prepare a pressed body and the successive application of extrusion to the pressed body in a direction opposite to the push-in direction of a push-in punch by pushing the punch into the pressed body in a die or the container are repeatedly performed to prepare an agglomerate in which the first sample and the second sample are uniformly mixed and fine-grained and, then, the agglomerate is compacted into a solidified body as a green compact by applying a plastic working.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
