PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal carrier which prevents the buckling and deforming of a honeycomb body by devising the joint structure in the honeycomb body even if the stiffness of the honeycomb body is increased by increasing the number of interfaces in the honeycomb body.;SOLUTION: In the metal carrier prepared by jointing the honeycomb body having, for example, metal foil wound and at least a part of the metal outer tube to clad the outer periphery, the metal carrier for supporting the catalyst is characterized in that the joint parts of foils constituting the honeycomb body are constituted of the outer periphery joint part and the inlet side joint part, the outer periphery joint part is jointed in two or more layers to one third or less of total layers radially from the uppermost outer periphery of the honeycomb body over the whole length of the axis direction of the honeycomb body and the inlet side joint part is jointed from 40 mm or more from exhaust gas inlet side end part of the honeycomb body and to 70% or less of the axial direction length over the whole radial layers of the honeycomb body.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
