PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inspect surface contamination in piping for radioactive wastes. PSOLUTION: The detection part 12 is inserted into the piping 10. The detection unit 13 is constituted of the peripheral electrode 14 and collector electrode 16. The peripheral electrode 14 is constituted of a member, provided with a plurality of openings capable of pass through -rays. Holding part 18 is provided with a release hole 20 for releasing nitrogen gas. The -rays, emitted from internal face of the piping 10, are detected in a state with the nitrogen gas introduced into the piping 10. By preparing a plurality of kinds of peripheral electrodes and a plurality of kinds of collector electrodes, and by selectively using them, the piping 10 of various size can be coped with this measurement device.
