PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To overcome the problem wherein since a design value is used for an unknown moment of inertia in a mechanical system having two or more moments of inertia including one unknown moment of inertia and a torsion spring, it is insufficient for a control parameter.;SOLUTION: An input signal including frequencies above the resonant frequency of the mechanical system is applied form the input side of the test specimen, primary and secondary resonant frequencies are found from the input signal and the output signal from the test specimen, and the unknown moment of inertia is obtained from the resonant frequencies, a known moment of inertia and a torsion spring constant.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
