PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of controlling the braking of eddy current type reduction gear which can detect changes in the temperature rise of a drum, without being influenced by the temperature change of other members, as much as possible.;SOLUTION: In this method for controlling the braking of the eddy current reduction gear, the ambient temperature in the vicinity of heat-radiating fins 5 provided at the outside periphery of a drum 1 is measured, and the braking is controlled immediately before the measured temperature value exceeds the set temperature, corresponding to the tolerable upper limit value in the above correlation relation, based on the correlation relation of the change of the ambient temperature in the above temperature-measured position accompanying the temperature change of the drum 1.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
