PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the technique of designing a route with an optimum optical path, whereas routers having partial wavelength converting functions mix in a network.;SOLUTION: The method comprises steps of: inputting the wavelength switching number showing the number of changeable wavelengths at each node and information of a wavelength group showing convertible wavelengths at each node as parameters; formulating restraint conditions that the wavelength switching number used at each node is not greater than the inputted wavelength switching number and no route is doubled at the same wavelength between the same nodes; setting a function for showing the cost between a source and a sink as an objective function; and searching for a wavelength contained in the wavelength group to allot the wavelength in the wavelength conversion and obtaining a solution which meets the formulated restraint conditions and minimizes or maximizes the set objective function to determine the route between the source and the sink.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
