PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for designing a route of optical paths corresponding to securing of an independent route when designing routes of optical paths of an optical network.;SOLUTION: An optical path design method for designing routes of optical paths of the optical network comprises the steps of; inputting and storing path information indicating a path requested to be independent, as a parameter and storing it in a storage means; formulizing a restrictive condition on the network of the optical path; setting a function including calculation of the cost required in the case that the path designated by the path information is not independent, as an object function showing the cost between a source and a sink when the path information is stored in the storage means; and obtaining a solution which satisfies the formulized restrictive condition and minimizes or maximizes the set object function and determining a route between the source and the sink.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
