PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple calculation method by use of multilayer elasticity theory by taking differences between two layer elasticity theory and the multilayer elasticity theory into account when predicting a service life of pavement in designing the pavement of a pavement body having a structure designed using the two layer elasticity theory. ;SOLUTION: This method for predicting the service life of the pavement in designing the pavement comprises the following procedures: (1) a design cross section determining step for dividing the pavement body into upper and lower layers and determining a design cross section of each layer based on the two layer elasticity theory, and (2) a pavement service life calculation step for calculating pavement service life due to tensile strain occurring on lower faces of a surface layer and a basic layer and pavement service life due to compression strain occuring on an upper face of a roadbed from a predetermined destruction reference equation based on the multilayer elasticity theory by giving a thickness of each layer determined by the design cross section determining step and a modulus of elasticity for design corresponding to a used material in each layer.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
