PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for line balancing which enable a plurality of workers, who conduct more than one work activity, to optimize their work assignment.;SOLUTION: A management method for line balancing controls a line balance of production lines that are comprised of a plurality of workers. The method consists of a step (S100) to read out a standard time for each work activity, a step (S102) to read production conditions, a step (S104) to calculate a targeted cycle time, a step (S106) to read out work procedures, a step (S108) to assign the work activities to satisfy the targeted cycle times, a step (S120) to measure an actual work time spent by the worker assigned to the work activity, and a step (S124) to reassign the work activities so that an efficiency of the actually measured line balance becomes better than a predetermined value.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
