PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form and grind a specified twisted groove without use of any plurality of sorts of measuring machines by measuring the error in the tooth shape accurately and correcting the positioning error of the grinding wheel and/or dressing error. ;SOLUTION: A probe 7 having a tip part whose dimensions are known is touched, and the coordinates for the part with a work 3 and the part with a twisted groove are measured and stored in memory, and the distance of the normal to the twisted groove curved surface is calculated from any spatial position in the neighborhood for the twisted groove including the positioning error of a grinding wheel 6 with respect to the work 3 on the basis of the section shape curve perpendicular to the axis of the twisted groove, its first to fourth grade differentials, and geometrical positional relationship between the grinding wheel 6 and the work 3, and the positioning error is reversely calculated so that the distance of the normal obtained by calculation becomes equal to the known dimensions of the tip part of the probe, and thereby the positioning error of the grinding wheel is presumed and fed back to an NC shaping grinding device to serve for performing the shaping and grinding of the twisted groove as target.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
