PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of conditions to be calibrated, to reliably select a proper recording condition for any optical information recording medium, and to select a recording condition without being affected by the difference of an optical recording device or the difference of the inter-surface gap of the optical information recording medium. ;SOLUTION: When a recording pulse is composed of a leading pulse and the following pulse train, trial recording is performed while simultaneously changing the leading pulse width, the duty of the following pulse train and a recording power condition on the basis of a relation between the leading recording pulse width and the recording power which minimizes the jitter quantity, a relation between the leading recording pulse width and the duty of the following pulse train which minimizes the jitter quantity, and a recording power value Pw1 which minimizes the jitter quantity on an arbitrary leading pulse width condition. Since Tmp and the recording power are determined in the level of 3Ttop, seven combinations of a stepwise gray part in the Figure are only checked to determine a proper recording condition (3Ttop, Tmp, and the recording power).;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
