PROCESS FOR TANNING FUR-AMELIORATED SHEEP SKINS

The invention relates to a process for tanning sheep skins for fur-ameliorated semi-products, consisting in soaking the preserved skins in two stages, the cleaning stage and the mechanical washing stage, shearing and fleshing them, rinsing them out, centrifuging and pickling them in a float containing salt, synthetic and/or natural oils and organic acids, and tanning them in a float containing basic chromium salts in the presence of synthetic oils, while modifying the pH value up to 3.5...3.6, and finally to 3.9...4.1 with NaHCO3, further on the tanned skins being washed, centrifuged and then dried and subjected to further processing under conditions known per se. The so treated skins exhibit a white clean thick unfelted fur with extensible dermic layer, having compact and smooth feel along the entire surface.
