The proposed method for identifying planar geometric figures consists in transforming the figure image into the digital image, performing operations for processing the digital image by a computer in order to determine the ratio between the area of the analyzed figure to the area of each reference figure, calculating, by using the said ratios, the indicators that characterize the belonging of the analyzed figure to the defined class of figures, and comparing the area of the figure with the areas of the figures of the defined class. There are two algorithms for processing data when identifying figures: a fast-acting algorithm and exact algorithm.
