The proposed method for determining content of chromium in water consists in adding sulfuric acid (H2SO4) to the water in order to achieve pH = 1, adding 0.5 % of diphenylcarbazide in 96 % ethyl alcohol, and concentrating the dyed compound of chromium with diphenylcarbazide by passing the water through a cationite layer, such as cationite KU2-8. The cationite absorbs chromium diphenylcarbazide and achieves red-violet color, the intensity of which exceeds the color intensity of the water. The color of the cationite is compared with the color of the reference elements of the color scale. The comparison results are used to determine the content of chromium in the water.
