The present invention relates to a method for fast determining the porosity and strength of coal coke at a plant for cake dry slaking, in which the cake heated to the coal carbonization temperature is cooled by inert gas under pressure. The proposed method is distinctive by that the aerodynamic resistance of the cake column at the slaking plant is equal to the difference of the inlet pressure and the outlet pressure of the unit for supplying inert gas to the plant. The greater is the aerodynamic resistance of the cake column, the less is the porosity and greater is the strength of the cake. Todetermine the porosity and the strength of the cake, the characteristics are used that define the porosity and the strength of the cake as functions of the aerodynamic resistance of the cake column.
