A thermally formable thermoplastic polyolefin film of increased heat resistance containing 5-100 wt.% cycloolefin copolymers (COC) on the total polyolefin weight, of glass transition temperature Tg 65-200degreesC, as measured byDIN EN ISO 11357-1 standard with the aid of DSC at a heating rate of 10 K/minute, and heat forming stability of 60-200, preferably 110-180degreesC is new. An Independent claim is included for a process for preparation of the film by compressing COC or a polymer mixture in an extruder with heating, extrusion of the melt obtained with a flat or round nozzle, optionally chilling on a cooling roll, and drawing of the film obtained on one or more rollers.
