The invention relates to a method of authorising a client terminal (10) of a nominal network to access a communication network different from the nominal network. The inventive method comprises a step consisting in verifying the access rights of the terminal, whereby an authentication server (18), belonging to the communication network which the terminal wishes to access, exchanges messages with (i) the terminal and (ii) the nominal network, in order to verify the access rights of the terminal in relation to the communication network. If at least one part of the messages exchanged during said verification step fails to fulfil certain pre-determined criteria, the authentication server limits the terminal's access to the communication network. At least one part of the pre-determined criteria is verified by the authentication server on the basis of an analysis, performed by the authentication server, of the messages exchanged thereby with the terminal.
