A silicon carbide containing particle comprising silicon carbide, in which the silicon carbide contains at least one of 6H polymorph of silicon carbide and 15R polymorph of silicon carbide and the total content of 6H polymorph of silicon carbide and 15R polymorph of silicon carbide in the silicon carbide is 70 wt% or more; a process for producing a silicon carbide sintered material using the silicon carbide containing particle; a silicon carbide sintered material produced by using the silicon carbide containing particle; and a filter comprising the silicon carbide sintered material.
