Data input and output device according to the priority in the asynchronous transfer mode switching system

PURPOSE: An apparatus for inputting and outputting data according to priority in an asynchronous transfer mode switching system, and a method thereof are provided to improve the efficiency of data input and output of a whole asynchronous transfer mode switching system by stopping data input and output of queues corresponding to priority where back pressure is generated. CONSTITUTION: A switching system is formed of a plurality of inferior matching parts(500-1,...,500-N) and an ATM switch part(550). The ATM switch part(550) includes a plurality of line drivers/receivers(551-1,...,551-N), a plurality of FIFO(First Input First Output) queues(561-1,...,561-N), a controller(571), a FIFO controller(181), and a switch(591). The FIFO queues(561-1,...,561-N) have priority corresponding to priority provided from the switching system. The FIFO controller detects priority of inputted data, and controls to store the data at the queue having the same priority as priority of the data.
