Automation of plastic extrusion through the use of neuro-fuzzy technology

An arrangement for extruding plastics comprises at least one extrusion unit (9) which can be controlled electronically using a number of process parameters, and an arrangement for electronically detecting at least one part of the process parameter, as well as an arrangement for analysing and controlling the parameters to electronically control each extrusion unit. The arrangement for analysing and controlling the process parameters is a self-controlling and self-regulating electronic Neuro-Fuzzy system. Each extrusion unit comprises an extruder and/or an extrusion tool and/or a calibration unit and/or a vacuum tank and/or a cooling pond and/or a winder and/or a stacking unit, and the latter are connected by an electronic / optical / radio controlled network. One or more of the sensors of each extrusion unit are used to electronically measure at least part of the process parameters. The electronic Neuro-Fuzzy system is a hybrid system.
