The method involves taking a functional position from a course of mobile position indicators. The situation of the functional position is computed in the basis of a given distance from an output ideal position. An output rest position is taken if a manually released signal is received. The output rest position of the position indicator is determined during the service life of the operating device. An independent claim is also included for a device for seizing a certain function of releasing operating parameter of an operating device.
