The seat has an operating device for folding a backrest (6) from a functional position to a cargo-position. A locking unit has two locking mechanisms (26, 28), which are attached to a door facing side and a door turn-away side of the backrest, respectively. The backrest is reset into the functional position to successively operate the two locking mechanisms in such a manner that the backrest locks in a final locking position.
