The die has a cylindrical casing with interior and exterior sides (18, 20), and groove passage opening (16) for retaining replaceable abrasion sleeves. A protection unit protects the abrasion sleeves in the casing by pushing out the passage opening towards the exterior side. The sleeves are made of ceramic or steel. The passage opening has two different diameters i.e. larger inner diameter and smaller outer diameter. An independent claim is also included for a ring die press with a ring die for manufacturing a pellet.
