The component has electrode layers and piezo-ceramic layers alternatively arranged one upon the other in a stack direction of a monolithic, stacked actuator body (20). The body has a predetermined breaking point (100), which leads to formation of a definite split in the body during mechanical overloading. The component controls and limits the split formation and expansion in the body with the help of the breaking point. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) a method of manufacturing a piezoelectric component (B) the use of piezoelectric component for controlling an injection valve of an internal combustion engine.
