A monitor for the mixing and reaction processes in the two-component production of hand-mixed aqueous chlorine dioxide solutions effects the various functions required in the process. A monitor for the mixing and reaction processes in the production of hand-mixed aqueous chlorine dioxide solutions effects the following functions : (1) automatic monitoring of a defined mixing and reaction run; (2) monitoring of the conductance, pH and/or redox potential of the individual components and in the various reaction phases and also the end-values; (3) activating the dosing pump to lead the ClO2 into the water following the reaction; (4) automatically monitoring the reaction in each phase of the production of the ClO2 solution by measuring the conductance, pH and/or redox potential; (5) allowing automatic monitoring of the hydrogen chloride-chlorite process as well as the sodium peroxodisulfate-chlorite process; and (6) independently detecting the hand-mixing process used.
