摘要

Tests were conducted with chlorine dioxide (Cl02) field burst packets to determine their capability to produce chlorine dioxide from precursors and to determine if the disinfectant is appropriate for military field applications. Chlorine dioxide produced from citric acid and sodium chlorite was evaluated on Klebsiella terrigena, echovirus 7 and Cryptosporidium parvum oocysts. Waters used to challenge disinfection were distilled deionized, tap and worst case (containing humic acids, inorganic salts, high turbidity and high pH). Animal (neonatal mouse) infectivity tests were conducted at the University of Arizona with C. parvum oocysts after exposure to chlorine dioxide. Results indicate that the chlorine dioxide packets are effective for disinfection of bacterial and virus challenges with less than 10 minutes contact, but are ineffective for C. parvum oocysts with 30 minutes contact.
